Mind the Design! Part 1

As interior designers,

We are constantly looking for the best way to provide the ideal design for our clients. It is not enough to pick a pretty wall color, the latest trendy feature, or a stunning sofa. The more time we spend working with people and learning all we can about what brings wellness to their lives, the more we understand that design is not just ‘décor deep’.

We all know that psychology is a wide and ever-expanding field which is primarily defined as “the scientific study of the human mind and its functions, especially those affecting behavior in a given context”. At Embellish Designs, we take this concept a step further: the context here is your home and how it affects your mind, mood, and overall functionality. We bring it out of your mind and into your home!

Each person is unique and has their own set of characteristics and attitudes. We all enjoy different aspects of life (i.e., hobbies, sounds, sights, human interaction, or lack thereof) and we express these joys in different ways.  Having a home that can complement your true self is crucial to living life successfully as measured in terms of both contentment and balance.  What brings you joy and how can your home support that?

Knowing yourself and how you function is the first step.

Your mental state and mood while in your home is imperative to functioning in a healthy and positive way overall.  Design elements can either make or break your mood. Having a thoughtfully laid out plan for your home design and goals for the moods you wish to experience or attain while in each room needs to be at the top of your priority list, whether you are considering renovations to your current place or planning for a future one. The psychology of your home will dictate how you/others will experience it. Put your money where your mind is!
